When it comes to assessing the impact of family structure on the racial gap in economic mobility between black and white boys, this new study suggests that family structure at the neighborhood level influences economic mobility for black boys, family structure at the household level influences economic mobility for black boys, and family structure in adulthood influences black boys’ household income as adults.
