India: Police Suspended Amid Public Outcry after Gang Rape of Dalit Woman.  Five senior police officers on Friday were suspended for attempting to destroy evidence in the alleged gang rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman that has triggered mass protests across India.  The police cremated the body against the wishes of her family and religious custom.  This case among other brutal rapes and murders of young girls in Dalit over the past month has provoked outrage and exposed the ongoing use of sexual violence as a tool of oppression and revenge against lower caste communities in India.  Al Jazeera CNN The Guardian
